A short story about us

My Hmong Family is a family-led platform dedicated to sharing the authentic art, design, and cultural stories of the Hmong people. Founded around the creative talents of two sisters, this site serves as both a showcase and a storytelling space, bringing together Hmong heritage and contemporary creativity.

In this shared space, you will meet Ja Mooie (Nui), whose intricate embroidery reflects traditional Hmong textile arts, and Xee Chang (Minli), a young painter whose works capture both personal and cultural narratives. Together, they form the heart of My Hmong Family, with each purchase directly supporting their work and the platform’s evolving mission.

Ja Mooie (Nui)

Nui, is a skilled Hmong embroidery artist whose work is deeply rooted in the rich textile traditions of her heritage. Her creations are characterized by intricate patterns, careful craftsmanship, and a profound respect for traditional Hmong design.

As a Deaf artist, Nui brings a unique perspective to her craft, focusing on visual and tactile storytelling that transcends sound. Her embroidered pieces will soon be available as framed art and selected textile designs on our platform.

Xee Chang (Minli)

Minli is a young Hmong painter who brings a fresh and introspective voice to her art. Currently a student, Minli’s paintings explore themes of identity, emotion, and cultural heritage, blending traditional Hmong influences with her own contemporary experiences.

The proceeds from Minli’s artwork will contribute to her future educational pursuits, allowing her to continue both her studies and her creative journey.

Looking Ahead

While My Hmong Family begins with one family, it is intended to grow over time. The platform may gradually include work from other Hmong artists and designers, alongside expanded cultural stories and community-focused initiatives. Any future development will be approached carefully, with respect for people, culture, and sustainability.
